May Artist of the Month – John Foley

John Foley is an author, teacher, and artist living in the Page and Lake Powell area. Traveling to many of the world’s art museums including the Louvre and
Musee d’Orsay in Paris, Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has given him a unique perspective and appreciation of art throughout the ages and across many cultures.
John teaches English at Page High School and has written two novels: Lost Frontier set in Gates of the Arctic National Park, and Hoops of Steel which was named a Book for the Teen-Age by the New York Public Library. John received training in the fine arts through the University of Washington.
He participated in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area’s Artist in Park Program in July 2013 and was featured at the Artists of the Southwest Exhibition at the Fine Arts Center in Yuma, Arizona in the spring of 2013. Foley’s oil paintings will be on display at the Powell Museum during the month of May.
