New book to be released by local Page resident and trader Elijah Blair (Jaa II Yahzii)
“From Hoot Owl Holler to Indian Country: Trading as a Way of Life from Eastern Kentucky to the Indian Country of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah”
Elijah Blair currently owns Blair’s Dinnebito Trading Post in Page, Arizona. He is a past president and board member of the United Indian Traders Association. The Blair family continues to support weavers and other Native American artisans from the Four Corners region.
“From Hoot Owl Holler to Indian Country” recounts the colorful history of the Blair family, Elijah Blair’s life, and the cultural and personal interactions from over 65 years as a southwest trader. The book, edited by Dr. Pam Brown, also includes photographs from the Blair collection which document daily life of the artisans, traders, and their families.
There will be refreshments and free admission to the exhibit of Navajo textiles “Weaver’s Trail: Honoring Navajo Weaving at Dinnébito Trading Post” from the Blair family collection.
