POWELL MUSEUM ARTIST OF THE MONTH
Reception will be held on Friday August 7, 2015 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
James Cowlin is a freelance photographer based in Oracle, Arizona specializing in nature, travel and fine art. He has been documenting the landscape of the western United States for over thirty years. His collection of images range from broad panoramic views to intimate close-ups.
His current work-in-progress is documenting US Route 89 between Canada and Mexico. By concentrating on the highway, he has been able to shoot in twenty national parks and monuments and document the landscape of the West from the Rocky Mountains, across the Colorado Plateau and into the arid mountains and valleys of the southwestern desert.
His photographs range from the tourist meccas of Yellowstone and Grand Canyon to less well-known attractions such as the Logan Canyon National Scenic Byway. The photographs from the US Route 89 Project can also be viewed on the US Route 89 website
The public is invited to join us for an artist reception on Friday August 7, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Powell Museum & Visitor Center – 6 N. Lake Powell Blvd. Page, Arizona. Refreshments will be served!
