July 2016 Artist of the Month
Barbara Kemp Cowlin

The Powell Museum is pleased to announce the extension of our current Artist of the Month, Barbara Kemp Cowlin.

Cowlin’s work is nothing short of amazing. She has captured the color and movement of the water of Lake Powell in dramatic fashion. Experience the texture and patterns of this acrylic series now through the end of July 2016 at the Powell Museum & Visitor Center located at #6 N. Lake Powell Blvd. in Page, AZ.

I currently live in Oracle, Arizona where I work on my art full-time in a beautiful studio adjacent to my home.
I love to paint. I enjoy printmaking and bookmaking as well. I am working on two series of paintings– one is of overlooked indoor and outdoor details and the other is of water reflections. My work has ranged from landscape to figurative.
I have taught art at all levels from first grade through college. Other experiences include working as a graphic designer, arts administrator and as a full time artist. I have a BFA in Printmaking and a Masters degree in Community College Education with a major in Printmaking. Currently, I offer workshops around Arizona and in my studio.
My work has been included in the City of Phoenix Arts Collection, the University of Arizona Special Collections, Providence Medical Center in Everett, Washington and Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, First Bancorp Headquarters in Troy, N.C., Baylor University Medical Center as well as the Art in Embassies program at the U. S. Embassy in Bolivia. I’ve had solo shows at the Agua Caliente Ranch Park Gallery in Tucson, Arizona, Rancho Linda Vista Gallery, Oracle, Arizona, Willo North Gallery in Phoenix, and the @ Central Gallery, Burton Barr Central Library, Phoenix. Other  two-person and group shows include the Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, Tucson International Airport, the Arizona Gallery at the University of Arizona, Casa Grande Art Museum, and numerous other exhibitions throughout the United States.
