February Artist of the Month – Jerry Lindsay
Local artist, Jerry Lindsay, has held a passionate interest in watercolor since his days in grade school. Though he majored in art in college, he was not able to pursue his interest until retirement in 2005. Page became his playground and many of his paintings portray the unmatched beauty that the area provides. He has held workshops for Glen Canyon Recreational Area, participated in the Artist in Park Program in the summer of 2012, and is currently presenting workshops at Coconino Community College.
Jerry participated in the Escalante Arts Festival in Utah where he received a purchase award for plein air painting, has been exhibited locally including the Friday Night Art Walk, and won first, second, and third place ribbons at the Coconino County Fair in 2012.
Arizona, and particularly Page, provide endless subject matter for Jerry. While he will be returning to his native upstate New York soon, his heart will remain in the beautiful Arizona where he has spent the last 43 years of his life. this exhibit is a humble “thank you” for the inspiration that Arizona will continue to give.
Join us Friday February 15th for an artists reception from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Powell Museum. The event is FREE and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
